Research On Personalized Information Service Of University Library In The Network Environment

In the network environment, the information needs of universities users show a trend of diversity and personality. So the university library should carry out in-depth personalized information services (PIS) to better meet the different information needs of faculties and students.This paper first introduces the background of PIS and the significance that universities library should carry out PIS, and analysis the research status of the PIS at home and abroad. Then, the paper outlines the connotations, characteristics, services mode and basic means of the university library's PIS, Based on these theories, the author elaborates the current implementation status of library's PIS of seven universities, which are belonged to the Ministry of Education and located in Hubei province, and then makes a comparative analysis of these services. Finally, the paper summarizes the existing problems of university library's PIS from five aspects: management mechanism, services, information users, information resources construction, system construction and security. The corresponding solutions and countermeasures have been raised at last.
