There are various kinds of field monitoring equipments used in industrial processing. A large number of sensors, actuators and controllers are commonly used to complete the industrial field process control and automation. With the development of factory automation and management informationization requirements, the accessing and controlling of these sensor / actuator / controller, and integrating its' information and status to the enterprise ERP systems and management decision-making systems become the focus of the study. It is therefore necessary to use a sensor / actuator and host interface standards, so the sensor / actuator / controller have a certain capacity for self-configuration.There were lots of achievements and applications on the research of process control and fieldbus protocol since 1970s. But the existing protocols do not fully suitable for the process control system's front-end components (such as sensors, actuators and controllers, etc.), mainly due to: (1)Consider of the processing and storage resources, some protocol's communicating stacks are too difficult for a low-cost solution to realization, such as TCP/IP, DeviceNet. (2)The data flow of a single node in sensor network is very low, and the flow type is simple. But most fieldbus link layer's protocols were designed for mass transmitting. (3)High quality of real time responsibility is required in sensor network, especially in the dealing of some asynchronous events. Thus, it is necessary to provide a scalability application layer protocol which independent from developers and users. Based on the scalability application layer protocol, a transparent interface of the sensor between developers and users is established, which will accelerate the development of the sensor's network node, simplify the integration and application of sensors. This paper proposes a lightweight one-wire bus sensor network protocol, using the following technologies to resolve these foregoing problems:(1) The introduction of frame types in the link layer help distinguish the events, master-slave communication, node identification and other information, and improve the response speed of asynchronous events, thus it needn't to distinguish the event between real-time and non-real-time inc the application layer by priority. While it retains the host-slave communication form to simplify the node achievement.(2) The introduction of event/action model in the application layer, to abstract nodes with components of numbers of channels, each channel defines some events and actions. These abstraction makes each node become similar to the model of software components with attributes, events and methods. Users do not need to understand the details of its realization, and developers need not concern node's calling. This paper proposes the design of IP core of the sensor network protocol by using of existing hardware technology. And thus to achieve the network controller, and propose a sensor/actuator master and slave node application models.
