IP (Intellectual Property) is the abbreviation of integrated circuit intellectual property.The IP reuse technology has been the main design methodology of SoC(System On Chip) design.This research topic is a part of the project'The SoC Platform of Home Networking Center',sponsored by the '863 Plan'(No. 2003AAlZ1110).First,The deep study is on active design flow,design environment of SoC based on IP reuse technology;Then, take the VGA (Video Graphic Array) controller IP core for example,it completed the design and realization of IP blocks in embedded system adopting the idea of cooperation of the software and hardware.The sollution achieved the compile of the RTL code,design synthesis, function verification,waveform simulation based on the platform of the project ;Another deep research is on the standard and criterion of IP design.Combined with the practical design demand, this paper proposed a criterion sollution objected to the information electronic home appliances.Firstly,this paper illustrates the whole sollution of 863 project. It focuses on the basic knowledge and the trend about the theory of IP core technology, the purport of the work is definitely confirmed; Then,This paper states the IP core technology of SoC design methodology in detail. It starts from the IP design and validation,then emphases on the essential character ,design flow,and the key technology of IP reuse; With the deep research on the principle of VGA system and technique of VGA, this paper describes the design and implement of VGA controller IP core based on AMBA(Advanced Microcontroller Bus Architecture) in detail. Object to the application of the SoC platform of home networking center, an implement solution with software and hardware platform is proposed ,the experiment result shows that this VGA controller IP core is convenient for modification ,and it is easy to realize, moreover,it is transplantable.This IP core has been embedded in the SoC platform as a function module,theAt last,this paper summarizes the research work in this paper and analyzes the problems among the work unsolved; and the study prospect is discussed.
