With the lacking problem of the water resources becoming unceasingly serious, the entire society has increasingly paid more attention to the scientific management and reasonable use of the water resources. The author has developed the water supply information management system for county seat in Shaanxi province, so as not only to supervise and manage the water supply system well for county seat in Shaanxi province, but also to provide accurate and reliable scientific basis rapidly for the leaders at different levels to carry on the scientific management and decision-making of water resources.The paper introduces the system's research and development work in detail, including key technology research, system demand analysis, system network planning design, system software structure and implementation model, database design, geographic information subsystem development of water supply, system software test and running instances and so on.The system runs under the environment of wide area computer network covering eighty four cities (counties) of Shaanxi province. It provides the function of collecting,processing,accessing and managing the information of water supply project, the function of querying the water supply information based on the geographic information system, the function of analyzing and making statistics of the water supply project information and output function of several kinds of statistics reports such as annual report,monthly report and so on, the function of system database maintenance.The successful running of the system will be of important theory significance and the practical significance, which can enhance the scientific policy-making level and the working efficiency of water supply management in Shaanxi province, and accelerate the advancement of modernization and information of water conservation cause of Shaanxi province, thus achieves the strategic target of sustainable use for the water resources in Shaanxi province.
