As water utilization and water network scale in cities expand continuously, the manual modes and measures of management can not satisfy the demands of safe water utilization and high quality service for water enterprises, the ability and efficiency to treat an emergency will not meet the necessity of urban construct at high speed. So, water enterprises need a set of effective and convenient methods to manage the water supply network which is valuable underground resource in cities. Establishing water supply network integrated with management and decision analysis system will promote production control to a new stage, and lay the stable groundwork for standardization of enterprises.Integrated with correlative information system design principles, taking advantage of up-to-date advanced Geographic Information System (GIS) platform, component technology, database technology and water network modeling technology, and aiming at demands and characteristics of water enterprises, this thesis provides a set of solution of water supply network platform based on GIS.First, based on analysis of development background, domestic and foreign present state and perspectives of water supply network and GIS, the thesis points out four critical technologies for building water supply network based on GIS: component technology, oriented object technology, database technology and modeling technology.Second, the thesis emphatically explained the conception, components and sorts of GIS which are base software platform of water supply network information system, the meanings and development technology of GIS component base on COM are introduced, and it put forward functions of some important GIS component packaged in SuperMap platform.Third, the detailed requirements analysis report combined with specific demands of water enterprises are brought forward based on sufficient survey.Forth, according to software engineering principles, combined with four critical technologies, the water supply network system is designed from some aspects below: system analysis methods, environment of software and hardware, application program framework, system functions, data organization and database.Then, the technical course of building water supply network model is introduced, According to the topological relation of water supply network model for the valves turns-off analysis in course of tube-bursting accidents, the valves turns-off scheme and the area of water supply network cut-off are established by using the breadth-first search algorithm, and the corresponding Visual Basic programs are developed.Finally, the thesis brought forward how to adopt advanced GIS technology toraise utilization ratio of water resource and management level of urban water supply enterprises. For supply water enterprises to utilize the existing water resource in good time, rationally and effectively, for accelerating the urban construction and economy development, it had general practical significance. Test run of YiYang water supply network system indicates that the development has achieved scheduled target and established a solid basis for subsequent development and further research.
