In recent years, Virtual Reality Technology's application and research have developed quickly. It has been used in many fields. Virtual Reality has become one of the most important computer applied technology. The traditional steel construction industrial factory's illustration is always too simple and lacks the reality. As a result its practical value is often limited. Introducing virtual reality technology into the research of numerical factory can provide a new method for factory design and planning virtual factory 3D model space not only offer the natural,real,visual and vivid representation of real world but also can develop time and space of factory sequentially extend its function.The title of this academic thesis takes the subject "3D Information Demonstration System based on VR" as the background. The steel construction industrial factory as virtual space is built by VRML technology and Java.The thesis introduces Virtual reality synoptically at first. It expatiated on the basic concepts and characters of the VR system. It expounded the domestic and overseas status in virtual industrial building. The paper puts forward the background,significance,destination and research contents of this task on the basic. Through the analysis and design of the virtual factory we make the VRML,Java and JavaScript for the main developing technology. Then according to actual situations, we model these buildings by the combination by VRML shape node. We put the methods of modeling object such as background,appearance of factory etc. Through using LOD,mechanisms of DEF/USE to optimize scene, improving browsing rapidity and accomplish scene browsing.This thesis emphasizes the interactive function of virtual factory. We realize the interactive function in virtual scene by windows. We realize the function of designing steel model parameter. We put forward two methods for realizing the navigation of three-dimensional map. Automatism roaming and interaction roaming were used in the scene ramble system. The information searching methods in virtual factory are researched in this article, discussing the technology of the JDBC, the searching of building information.At the end, it gives a conclusion and expectance and widens the ideas about virtual factory system. Through the research and realization of the virtual factory system demonstrates the feasibility and practicability that we can build virtual factory based on Web.
