Since the foundation of PRC, broadcast has been become the major transmission tool of media construction in rural area is determined by its extensiveness. We can divide it into four periods according to our political stages, which are venture period in 1949-1965; unrest period in 1966-1976; reform period in 1978-1991 and all-round development period in 1992-2004. The main part of this thesis is according to these four periods. In every chapter, there is a detailed analysis above the building conditions of radio and TV career; the ownership of the farmers; the settings and contents of radio and TV and the effect on rural social development. We can get a clear outline above the history and status of rural radio and TV transmission in Hunan by the detailed analysis above these four stages.The presence of receiving various media program is not ideal; seldom programs are concerning on rural area; the effect of transformation is so so; the imbalance of media function, etc. These are the main problems the rural area are suffering now. The writer stresses that we should accelerate the construction of "extend Radio and TV coverage to every village"projects. Let them become real. And pursue their quantity on the basis of their quality. The programs should be more concerned about farmers' life; expanding the rate of rural area programs and improving their contents indeed, which can strengthen the effects on agricultural spread.
