With the rapid development of internet, requirement for information is greater and greater. The early narrow-band access technology is already not satisfied people's requirement for information.Under the push of this kind of requirement, the lots of broadband access technique birthed, especially because of cheap cost and easy to deployment, xDSL technique has become dominant broadband access technique now.The digital subscriber line access multiplexer (DSLAM) which is focused on xDSL has experienced a high speed development process. Earlier ATM core DSLAM evolves gradually to IP core and comprehensive DSLAM. Along with access point down to users, xDSL+FTTx will be a kind of good temporary technique.In this paper, the author has analyzed detailedly the principle of a few kinds of main new generation xDSL technique, compared the differences in the various technologies, ADSL, ADSL2, ADSL2+, SHDSL, VDSL and VDSL2, etc. And elaborated the designing philosophy and realization solution of low cost ATM and IP core of DSLAM project, and to each module of DSLAM realization solution carried on discussion, and has made in-depth study on some key technologies adopted in this solution.
