As the ASIC design size growing larger everyday, verification is the design cycle's bottleneck in many designs. The prototyping based on FPGAs is an ideal verification platform, because it can be 10 times faster than other verification methods, such as simulation and emulation, so the FPGA verification platform can reduce the design cycle effectively. A Synplicity survey reveals that 90% of today's SoC and ASIC designs deploy the FPGA verification platform.This dissertation discussed the design and implementation of the DVB-C demodulation ASIC verification platform. The development of digital TV is in a critical time in China. During the 2008 Olympic, the government will widely spread the DTV and HDTV. To face the fierce market competition, reduce the design cycle and speed the time-to-market is very necessary.This dissertation studied the DVB-C system firstly. Just the FPGA self can not be a verification platform, there must be other modules to complete the system, and the verification is made in system.Next, the system hardware design was carried out. Virtex-5 LX100 as the core device, with AD9218 analog-to-digital module and the RF tuner module, designed a single board hardware platform. The design specification defined the performances of each module. Signal integrity analysis was carried out from schematic design to post layout simulation. The simulations revealed the defects in the design and guaranteed the design success. It was a valuable experience to find out a design flow for FPGA prototyping platform hardware design.Finally, the system debug and setup was summarized. The verification was carried out on this platform.
