Boiler drum water level control systems belong to important thermal control systems of fossil fired power plant. Currently, most drum water levels are controlled by traditional PID methods, but the tuning of parameters for traditional PID controllers was based on the mathematical model of the object and on some rules, without possibility of on—line adjustment, which was difficult to adapt to the boiler drum water level which is a complicated and variable control system, it often happens that their control effect can hardly meet requirement.Fuzzy control technology was applied to design a two—input and three—Output self—adapting fuzzy PID controller to control the boiler drum water level, achieving self—adjustment of PID control system parameters. The designed system was simulated using MATLAB. And the results show that the self-adapting and robustness of the fuzzy controller are better than that of the traditional PID controller, more efficient and of high precision, and can effectively control water level.
