Grid is a newly-born technology with the rapid development of computer science, information technology and computer networks. The Grid Service System(GSS) which based on grid technology is a computing platform designed for the ever growing demand of high performance computing resources. The heterogeneous implementation and the sharing of distributed dynamic resources will need a priority that the system should include certain information service that can describe, store and provide access interface for information of resources such as location, property and availability.The S-GIS information service sub-system is an implementation of grid information service in a specific grid environment, is a fundamental component of grid service system. The design of the system incorporates resource distribution and management mode. It uses assemble and distribution method for grid resource information on the basis of management field that information nodes within the field corporate with cache and management. This thesis also defined S-GRIM information description model, unified metadata description of resource information and improved the operability between different modules.As to the implementation, the prototype of sub-system is built with Web Service technology. The information collecting module deployed on resources is designed to obtain state information of resources; the information node server is introduced for assembling and managing resource information. The XML format is used to formalize the data source and information transport. Meanwhile adopt native-XML database technology for direct data store and process. The interface for information query and resource information filtering is implemented through Web service capsulation. Friendly access interface is implemented with RIA technology. Finally, we used the sub-system in a specific environment; the running results show that the sub-system basically satisfies the design requirement for effectively assemble and release resource information in GSS.
