Wire rope is widely used in industrial transport location. It is absolutely significant to eliminate the hidden trouble on security through testing or monitoring the working wire rope frequently. As the development of the NDT, various portable spot testing equipments constantly come out. However, among all kinds of wire rope non-destructive testing system, the collected signal is transmitted in cable. Considering the working condition of the wire rope differ in thousands of ways,we developed a non-destructive wire rope testing system based on signal wireless transmission.Wireless data transmission is a good choice when we need to test or inspect wire ropes which are used in some formidable or unreachable circumstance. It can reduce the difficulty and expenditure of the local connecting up. In this situation, it brings much inconvenience to exchange battery by which the data acquisition terminal is powered. Therefore, the system is critical to the power consumption in order to decrease the frequency of exchanging battery.In the paper, we introduce a new solution based on ZigBee compatible RF chip and low power consumption MCU with excellent power management. The above two parts build up the core of the wireless transmission module to implement a data transmission system in the form of star topology network. .Moreover, a communication protocol in use named SMAC and the application firmware are introduced in detail including the inspecting software on computer. The firmware design focused on decrease of the power consumption. From the whole structure design to detailed chip working mode configuration we optimize the system fully.At the end, we describe the system expansibility and updating space. We adapted the platform used for wireless sensor network, so it can implement multi-node data acquisition, and then assemble the signal from every node to PC through a access point.
