Development And Application Of Business Intelligence In Commercial Lending Process Management Of China Construction Bank

The concept of Bissness Intelligence (BI) was first proposed in 1996. It was defined as a technology and application combined of DW, OLAP, DM and so on which helps the corporation decisioning at that time. Now BI is understood as a tool to convert the corporation data to knowledge. The data which we refered includes the orders, stock, bargaining accounts, customers, vendor information and data of the competitors. The business decisions BI helps to make is on the perating level and also on the strategic level. It needs to use the technology of DW, OLAP and DM for converting the data to technology. So technically, BI is an application of the technology of DW, OLAP and DM rather than a new technology.BI is more appropriate to regard as a solution. The key of BI is extracting and clearing up the useful data of many different enterprise operating systems to ensure the validity of the data. After extraction, transformation and loading (ETL), BI combines the data to an enterprise data warehouse to get a global view of enterprise data. Based on the previous work, BI analyses the data by using the DM and OLAP tools. At the end, BI provides the knowledge to the managers to support the decision making.Nowadays, the research and develop of BI in China is still at the beginning step. The problems include the inefficiency of data analysis and lack of the ability of finding knowledge. It is more of an operational application system. And it is hard to optimize the effect of BI on supporting the decision making.The foundation of this research is the Commercial Lending Process Management (CLPM) project. Based on the characteristics of commercial lending, the research coverd the requirement analysis, total design, data analysis, database design and speciafied design. The research successfully integrated the information technoledge to the report module of CLPM by the BI software (Cognos).Based on the Cognos network application, the research has completed the B/S network application development of the system using the OLAP technology of Cognos component Reportnet on the HP platform. It implement publish and check of business reports. The report system runs on the country-wide network environment of China Construction Bank. The employees of commercial lending business can do the blowsing, checking, summarizing and analyzing on the network conveniently.
