Microsoft released SharePoint timely; SharePoint is a network platform for information communication and collaboration. The site can connect to user, group and knowledge, So that people can make better use of business relevant information, to carry out its work more effective, to make data sharing more efficient, and to make the information work itself. Members of enterprise and users can access and organize all kinds of documents stored in SharePoint very easily via Intranet, Extranet and Internet.The release of SharePoint has interested the enterprise user , has held the information sharing service market rapidly, with more and more enterprises realized the importance of information sharing, SharePoint also obtains more and more enterprise's approval, in 2007, SharePoint has brought Microsoft 1,000,000,000 US dollars profits, more and more users started to change their other information sharing platform such as File System, Microsoft Exchange Server to SharePoint, Microsoft once had published that past ten years was the Exchange ten years, future ten years will be the SharePoint ten years, a lot of users that used Microsoft Exchange Server in their enterprise in the past want to use SharePoint now, so there will be a question must meet: to use SharePoint is not starts from zero, there are a large number of data stored in the old system Microsoft Exchange Server Public Folder, these data cannot be discard and they must be used in the new SharePoint system, because of the large quantity of data, the manually migration of these data is nearly impossible, enterprise users need one kind of data migration tool urgently to help them to complete the data migration, change from Exchange Server to SharePoint smoothly, under this kind of market environment, the requirement of implement a tool to migrate date from Exchange Public Folder to SharePoint becomes more and more desirable, the user longed for that used one kind of intelligent tool to replace the manual operation to perform data migration, to make data migration become true.In this paper, the work of the Exchange Public Folder to SharePoint data migration is a research and development project that I completed with others during my internship in a company, this paper researched the Exchange Server, Exchange Public Folder and SharePoint, made an in-depth study on the feasibility of data migration from Exchange Public Folder to SharePoint and accomplished the study focus on the Exchange Public Folder data types, data storage, data organization and data access method, refers to a large number of reference in English and in Chinese ,technical manuals and technical books. Using the current world's popular development tool Visual Studio 2005, the popular XML, WebDAV and other technical, we developed and released the data migration tool Migrator. This paper also introduces the Migrator tool modules that I completed, they are Public Folder browsing module, data migrating out module and advanced module.After the first version of Migrator release at the beginning of 2007,Migrator became the first data migration tool in the software world, more and more Exchange server user and SharePoint user pay attention to Migrator, with the new version release of Migrator, Migrator was used by a lot of enterprise in Europe, US and Japan, such as markets can. dccil. Honeywell. serverworks. janalent and Chevron, Migrator helps them a lot, migrates the important business sharing data and enterprise sharing data from Public Folder to SharePoint for them, helps them be released from the restriction of migrating data by manual and helps them change from Exchange Server to SharePoint smoothly. There are still a lot of works needs to be done in the future, Migrator still has some shortages, during dealing with the feedback from uses and the software maintains, we get a lot of useful improvement requirement and advice. Such as to support OWA redirect, to make data migration more flexible, to allow user use their custom cast rules when data migration, to level up the data migration speed, to shorten the time consumed when data migration. These shortages are what Migrator needs to improve. Only the continuous improvement of Migrator can meet the needs of more users, can make Migrator be accepted by more and more user and make larger and larger business value and economic value.?...
