At present, as a result of optical design level enhancement, the development of optical glass, optics plastic and aspheric surface processing craft. The quality of zoom lens has been possible compare with Fixed focus system. The zoom lens is develops to the direction of the high percentage, the greatly relative aperture, the big field of view, miniaturized and the high imagery quality. And day by day, the zoom lens was applied in Widespread field.This article reviewed the development history and development tendency of zoom lens. Subsequently, elaborated the zoom lens's principle, the classification and the design method. According to used in the dynamic optics steadily equation to carry on the discussion like the design cam curve method to the optical system optimized design. And designed using ZEMAX software to use in the air-borne laser communication zoom lens . Zoom scope is 100mm to 200mm. Change percentage is 20 times. The system length is 150mm to 160mm. Then calculates the cam curve using MATLAB simulation software, Finally carries on to the zoom lens likes the imagery quality appraisal and the tolerance analysis.
