With the rapid development of the IC technology, SoC technology becomes the inevitable development trend of IC design and manufacturing. And IP-based SoC design is becoming a significant methodology of IC design. IP soft core, which is good in reusability and transplantation, has an advantage in design reuse. And it is widely used in application field. However, there are many challenges when IP soft core is reused in practical application. Research on the verification and application technology of IP soft core is the guarantee of design reuse. It is the important contents of IP soft core design reuse.According to the design reuse methodology, this dissertation focus on the research of widely used 80C51 IP soft core, including the test and application technology. Firstly, this dissertation summarizes the verification methodology in the existing condition, and analyzes the verification strategy. The 80C51 IP soft core is divided into several relatively independent function modules according to its architecture characters and design hierarchy, which is convenient for function simulation. A complete test strategy of 80C51 IP soft core is proposed in this dissertation. The strategy is divided into two stages: module-level test and system-level test. Test methods contain direct case input test and SW/HW co-test. In order to improve test efficiency, script-based test for sequential instruction test is used. In addition, FPGA implementation methodology of 80C51 IP soft core is researched, which focus on logic synthesis, post-simulation after synthesis, performance analysis and implementation steps. During the process, some improvement is made to the original code. Finally, the dissertation research on the application technology of 80C51 IP soft core, and design an IP-base system used for high speed data collection. The test and FPGA implementation result will be helpful for the subsequent design flow of the 80C51 IP soft core.
