Research And Realization Of GUI Subsystem For IPTV STB

The IPTV (Internet Protocol TV or Interactive personal TV) is a new technology. It makes use of the streaming media technology, transmits digital TV signal to users by wide band and supplies many alternating services. IPTV set top of box (STB) as the end device for IPTV system, is an embedded band board multimedia information terminal. GUI (Graphic User Interface) technology is very important in the designing of IPTV STB, because it builds up the interface platform of users and IPTV STB. Thus, the research of the key technology of high efficiency embedded system——embedded GUI technology is most essential.During the process of designing and development STB software for an IPTV project, the embedded system and relative theory of user interface is researched deeply, then the framework of IPTV STB system is studied, and the requirement analysis is proposed according to the characteristic of IPTV STB. Based on this, a GUI scheme is proposed according to the IPTV STB, which uses layer framework and module design. Firstly, the graphic protract engine introduces the reality and design of sub-layer in IPTV STB. Then the process of external and internal event is accomplished with using the mechanism driven by the message in core module. Finally, in the aspect of display management, a new window-cut manage scheme is proposed with pithiness and high efficiency.Based on the GUI system, the module of user interface of reference software is proposed, and this module has satisfied the requirement and has been used in business.The GUI proposed system reduces the complication of GUI programming effectively and meets the requirement of IPTV STB with favorable expansibility.
