| In order to avoid the patent restrictions on Audio and Video Coding standard, China has launched its own standard --AVS. This standard was authorized by the Standardization Administration of the People's Republic of China and was carried into execution on March 1, 2006. Before that, the Ministry of Information Industry of the People's Republic of China had organized an"AVS IPTV System Test"expert team to carry out the IPTV network technical test based on the AVS standard. They required major domestic manufacturers to develop corresponding system to validate.This project was funded by East China Institute of Computer Technology and Shanghai SVA Central Academe. As a project leader, I was responsible for the project design, software architecture design and key breakthroughs in technologies. Our team implemented the first domestic AVS IPTV STB which is the first one submitted to the ministry.This paper describes the research and implementation of AVS IPTV STB based on embedded technologies. Firstly, it describes the bi-processor structure based on ARM9 and BF561, implementing Linux on ARM9 and porting our own embedded RTOS, ReWorks, on BF561. Secondly, it describes the implementation of AVS decoding based on BF561 and the distributed embedded GUI on the two operating systems. Finally, it describes the implementation of AVS IPTV player, embedded HTML browser and digital TV middleware.This paper breaks through many key technologies, such as bringing forward bi-processor and bi-OS structure based on CPU and DSP which solved the confliction between cost and performance; distributing the GUI on CPU and DSP which leverages the bandwidth and performance very well; finding a solution for AVS decoding based on DSP which makes it possible to replacing the decoder easily and make it compatible for video coding format.The implementation of AVS IPTV STB system based on the embedded technologies with great practicality and scalability will obviously promote the industrialization process in AVS. |
