Embedded graphic user interface is the dialogic interface between embedded devices and users. As embedded devices are used widely in the ordinary lives of people, the requirements of high performance of embedded user interface is demanded increasingly. STB(Set-Top-Box) used on IPTV is a kind of embedded devices. With the fast development of IPTV market, the business of IPTV is more and more abundant, which needs the support of development of STB technology. Technology used on embedded GUI is one of the most important technologies on STB. So our work over embedded GUI technology has very important meanings.This project is based on STB-500IPTV operation system, which belongs to the multimedia terminal team of Chengdu institution of ZTE. I mostly take in charge of the module of graphic user interface of STB, and carried on some researches of embedded GUI. With the assistance of the experts in our team, I successfully combined Microwindows and FLTK together to defeat the limitations in single Microwindows tool. Further, I invented a GUI's R&D frame which can easily get a good performance. This method is going to be used in GUI's R&D, and also in embedded terminal devices such as PDA,portable devices etc.The thesis is divided into six chapters to give a main frame of the entire development scheme of GUI system. The first two chapters mainly introduced the background knowledge of this project, including the formation of IPTV system and its key technologies,the conception of IP Set-Top-Box and its network key technologies,the present level of embedded technology and also the status of embedded GUI technology. The third chapter discusses on the details of the practical way to perform the main menu in UI, which totally based on Microwindows+FLTK.Through the research and the practice in this project, I achieved the aim of providing a stable and effective scheme in embedded GUI's R&D.
