With the rapid development of information industry, wide power grid,telecommunications networks and the Internet has been integrated together and the newnetwork application called IPTV(Internet Protocol Television) produced. The business ofIPTV is growing fast with the development of communication and electronic consumptiveterminal product.IPTV uses a basal broadband Internet and a terminal set-top box to provide users a lotof businesses, such as video, dibbling, web browsing, interactive games and so on. The set-top box is a typical embedded system which has a lot of functions like conversion betweenanalog and digital, the display of graphic images, audio and video codec, streaming mediatransmission control and so on. The users can watch ordinary digital television programs andhigh-definition digital TV programs with IPTV set-top box on their existing analog TV.Display system plays an important position in the set-top box’s software module, whichprovides an interactive interface between the user and the set-top box.According to the background, this article gives a software platform for IPTV set-topboxes and solutions for embedded system. The hardware platform of this design is TianQiancompany’s development board, the board’s control core is the microprocessor S3C2440ALwhose frequency is400MHz. This board integrated a resistive touch screen of4-wire whichhas a high quality on display. The software platform used the latest Linux2.6kernel, selectedTrolltech of Norway opened Qt embedded libraries source for graphical interface libraries.This design transplant the bootloader and the embedded Linux2.6.25.8which has been cut. Italso built the embedded file system and completed the analysis and implementation of thenetwork card DM9000driver, transplanted the Qt and embedded libraries and Qt4platform’sgraphical interface, designed the embedded display system. The display system of IPTV thisdesign can provide users with the vivid and intuitive human-computer interaction, its goodscalability can meet the changing market’s demands and it has broad application prospects.
