With the development of social economy, science and technology, the traffic system has been very important for a nation's social and economic development. However, people's safety and economic development have suffered a lot due to traffic accident. The traffic accident is mainly caused by tire blowout and how to maintain the standard pressure and temperature is the key to preventing a tire blowout. Tire Pressure and Temperature Monitoring System (TPMS) is used to monitor the moving car on tire pressure and temperature automatically. It can also report unusual situation, so it serves as a warning system to ensure the security of drivers and passengers.Having analyzed the influence of the tire pressure and temperature on traffic safety and tires' expiration, the writer introduced the TPMS system, such as its characteristics, classification and so on. Then, according to the overall system, general design requirements were proposed in order to choose components. In this way, a new TPMS system was designed.The design is for direct TPMS system. Using the PIC microcontroller with low power consumption as a center, the writer adopts the Infineon sensor and the assorted receiving & sending chips for the TPMS system hardware and software design. The design has many merits, such as low energy consumption, small volume, strong stability, low cost etc.
