The Design And Implementation Of The Heterogeneous Digital Resources Cross-database Retrieval System

The rapid development of the computer network has dramatically revolutionalized the traditional library bibliographic retrieval service, and the digital books and documents resources using network as the carrier has changed the retrieval and borrowing approach of the traditional papery library books and documents. "The Digital Library" has crept into our lives and challenged the relative theories of the classical librarianship. The main problem lies in the rich network digital documentary resources giving rise to the users' low efficiency retrieval. To abide by the core value of the librarianship—readers centralized, and to provide the users with more convenient service, the researchers have to resolve this problem. Therefore, the digital documentary resources and the integrated services for the users become the key task of the contemporary librarianship and the research of the library information service profession.This paper is intended to make a deep research into the cross-database retrieval of the digital library, utilizing the update computer network and software development technology, design and realize the heterogeneous digital resources cross-database retrieval system. It covers cross-database retrieval technology, Web service cross-database retrieval model, document node service gateway as well as the application of Web 2.0 relative technology in cross-database retrieval system. The system development mainly adopts UML 2.0, and establishes the primary model diagrams on the stages of analysis, design and realization, such as class diagram, action diagram, sequence diagram, state machine diagram, component diagram, deployment diagram, which make a static and dynamic behavior modeling on the system and effectively support the system development by use cases driving.The main characteristics and innovations of this heterogeneous digital cross-database retrieval system include the resolution of the second retrieval technological bottle-neck, the resolution of the inter-access to the documentary service node by Web services, the extraction of the records of XML node by depth-first search, the improvement of the maintenance of the access interface to the documentary databases simplified by the template and the enhancement of the users' personality service function of the cross-database retrieval system by Web 2.0. At present, the shared platforms of the scientific documents in the provinces of China are under construction. The research and development of the cross-database retrieval system play a positive promoting role for the construction of the platform, thus it enriches the research in this field of country.
