Ten years ago, when the word "blog" was mentioned, more than 99 percent of Chinese people will feel puzzled. Even the "senior intellectuals" who was proficient in English could not exactly translate the true meaning of the word "blog". However, along with the terms of those international terrorist incidents, accidents and major news reports in recent years, the new word "blog" has been into the vision of the mainstream public, and with only a few years it has quickly captured all the eye-catching pages of the mass media. According to the 18th China Internet Development Report which was issued by China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC), As the end of June 2006, there was a total of 123 million Internet users in China, of which 81.7 percent knew the word "blog", and 17.4 percent of this number of people had their own blog space. Based on this number, the Chinese blog (blogger) scale could be estimated: 123 million X81.7%X 17.4%=17.485 million. The proportion of the Blog users to the Internet users accounted for: 17.485 million /123 million = 14.2%. A few years ago, the Chinese people were completely unfamiliar with the word "blog", but it began to more and more often appear in the headlines of newspapers, the index page of web sites, the cover of magazines and the television talk shows. Suddenly, blog has become another important network communication tool after QQ, BBS, E-mail and MSN. It has also increasingly become the new resort of those people, especially young people who eagerly pursuit fashion and entertainment. From the ordinary people to the celebrities, all over the world has begun "blog" overnight it. The upsurge of blog reflects many aspects of people's psychology. People have become interested in writing diary (blog) on the Internet. People are eager to be appreciated by others who are watching, while they are actively watching others also with appreciation. In the process of watching and to be watched, it is difficult to clarify that whose desire does blog satisfy?With this question, the writer takes the development process of blog as the starting point, then carry on analysis and discuss of the blog activity from the communication and psychological aspects. Blog, as a new tool or platform of communication, brings about a profound impact and change to the modern life, and this includes both positive and negative affect meaning.This paper mainly focuses on the ideas as follow: 1. The mind which blog was born with; 2.The evolution of the current blog; 3. The hidden psychological things which is reflected by the blog activity from celebrities to ordinary people; 4. The relative study of psychology theory of narcissism and the desire of Peep 5. Is "blog writing" to satisfy the emotion of narcissism? 6. Is "blog watching" whether the fulfillment of the psychological activity of peeping or not, etc.. This paper will focus on the analysis as follow: First, to analyze the narcissistic and peep behavior when people are engaged in "writing" and "watching" the blog, and the psychological characteristics of the network under the present blog era. Secondly,to find the psychological root of why people are eager to use blog by the well-known theory of psychology. Thirdly, to analyze the pop culture of blog from the culture features of "Me generation". Through the above analysis, this paper would try to prove that human's nature of narcissism and peep is the resource of happiness and solace which people are willing to find from the blog activities. The writer herself is a user and fan of blog, so she hopes that through this participatory research of blog, the meaning of the existence of blog and the impact on the community could be explored, meanwhile, to explore the predictability of the future development of blog.
