Low Voltage Differential Signaling (LVDS),a high speed I/O interface, is one important research problem of recent CMOS circuit design. It has inimitable superiority and function on achieving high speed data transfer. In this paper, research on design technology of LVDS high speed I/O interface is discussed; it also contains a 622Mbps LVDS transmitter design which is based on SMIC 0.13um CMOS arts.In this paper, we first introduce the basic principle and electrical specification of LVDS interface; by comparing with other interface technology, analyze the superiority of LVDS on high speed data transfer. In the article we also analyze some examples of LVDS I/O interface circuits and working principle in detail, and give out the simulation results as well as verification using HSPICE simulation tool. Accomplish a 622Mbps LVDS transmitter design, one of products of SMIC LVDS series, based on SMIC 0.13um CMOS arts. Actualize a total process of LVDS product development from circuits design, pre-layout simulation, layout design, post-layout simulation and optimize till to the final tapeout. The entire design flow refers to international general criterion which ensures the general acceptance and use.
