With the development of Web technology, more and more Web-based OLAP services are applied to the modern enterprise's decision supporting systems, which provides convenient and efficient decision support to decision makers. But, the dramatic growth in the number of Web users leads to excessive burden on the server; a performance bottleneck in the system is caused.In order to improve the system's performance, object pool and data cache technique are applied to the Web-OLAP system. Firstly, the problems of the current Web-OLAP system are analyzed, and the framework of the Web-OLAP system based on object pool and data cache technique is given out, then every part of this framework is described in detail. Secondly, two key techniques: object pool technique based OLAP-object management and data cache technique based multidimensional-data caching management technique are studied in depth. Structure of cached data is designed, on the basis of which the cached data generation method and the disposal procedure of these data are exposited. And then a data cache management algorithm is given out. Subsequently, the definition of OLAP object pool is put forward, and the relationship between demands and the objects is researched. The OLAP object is designed, and the method of how to manage the objects in the pool is researched at last. At the end of the paper, the Web-OLAP system based on object pool and data cache technique is realized and is applied to a specific project. The result shows that this method can effectively solve the problem of performance bottleneck in the Web-OLAP system, and improves overall performance of the system.
