Bridge health remote monitoring is a method to monitor a bridge in lineate or wireless way in real time, it changes the traditional way of monitoring by manpower, works more automatically, highly increase the response speed when any structure breakage is happened, save manpower and material resource, through this method, people can also manage many bridges in one place remotely.As the fast development of communication technology, it turns into a convenience way to transmit data through GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) between long distance. The author uses this method in this paper. This bridge health remote monitoring system consists of three parts: data acquisition, data transmission and data processing. The first part is a distributed system consists with Single Chip. This part is designed to gather the state information of the bridge and send the data to computer as certain mode. The second part is designed to transfer the data to the clients in remote control center through Internet. With the implementation of real-time online monitoring network, users can browse the on-the-spot data in any place.The paper gives the process of how to design the whole application system, design idea and functions of the full system are introduced, based on which, the system structure and the scheme realization are analyzed and studied deeply. Joining GPRS and Internet network together, the communication method is put forward with the dynamical resolve of domain name. It gives the final result of the application program and analysis the problem happened in the system and gives the way to resolve them. The design includes: (1) Hardware: the hardware system is mainly structured by lower power consumption MCU MSP430F1611 of TI. (2) The data transmission system is structured by MC55 of SEMIENS.(3) Software: this part designs the program by nesC language, it includes data acquisition of MSP430F1611, interrupt and communicate with the GPRS model.Bridge health remote monitoring is based on the GPRS, system is an intelligent control and data acquisition. The network structure, data transmission methods, information acquisition and data processing of system are giving a currency, advanced sample for other SCADA also. It can be used into other system through some modifications. It has not only deeper automation, but also saves more resources. The system has more use value and economic value.
