News Editing System is an important platform for news editing and broadcasting. It'sbased on the network of digital media production including news collecting to hard disks,data transferring, nonlinear editing, multi-channel broadcasting from contents on hard disks.On the network it's very convenient to transfer video, text, picture and other types of data,and to achieve tapeless broadcasting through desktop editing. It pushes real time newsprograms to subscribers and facilitates news broadcast in cyclic format.The performance of storage network of the News Editing System is critical to thesuccess a practical News Editing system. Fribre Channel (FC) as one of main stream storagenetwork technologies is expensive, hard to operate and manage. In comparison, IP basediSCSI technology sees rapid deployment by virtue of widely available IP networks.Security is another very important aspect of a news editing network. MPLS VPN is agood choice for meeting both security and performance requirements of the news editingsystem.This paper describes features of the news editing system, studies key issues on buildinga good nonlinear editing system and its evolution. We analyses key techniques about iSCSIby comparing it with traditional Fibre Channel technologies. Based on the Multi-ProtocolLabel Switch Virtual Private Network(MPLS-VPN) technologies, solutions andexperimental results for iSCSI storage network based News Editing System are provides.The system is running stably now after one year of building and implementation. It hasbeen taking daily news programming task since one year before, and got good performance.
