Qualified personnels in the 21st century is in need of all-round training to develop students'potential abilities. The coming new era will feature in highly-developing science and technology, the development trend of which includes both a growing number of various newborn subjects and an overwhelming integration resulting from the interaction and infiltration between subjects. As science and society develop, we need compound talents, experts derived from generalists. Since the year 2000, general comprehensive subject, comprehensive arts and comprehensive science have been newly added to college entrance examination in Guangdong and other provinces. Comprehensive subject refers to the ability of combining all the knowledge learned in middle school to solve problems, i.e. the newly-added exam, which covers the knowledge of six subjects: politics, history, geography, chemistry and biology, is designed to examine students'ability of comprehending, mastering and using all the knowledge gained in class. The test of Comprehensive subject in College Entrance Examination has had a great impact on traditional teaching in high schools.With the development and popularization of the Internet, traditional education ideas, teaching methods and teaching means are faced with big challenges, especially when many schools have recently set up links between multimedia campus network and Cernet or Internet, providing access to vast materials and technical support for a new teaching mode---network teaching,. Then, how can the traditional classes be enriched by making full use of the rich teaching resources on the Internet so that students can realize dominant, diversified, socialized and lifelong learning? How can the teaching resources be collected, sorted, developed and applied for sharing and communicating, and hence serve for network teaching and distance teaching?This article analyzes the present situation of subject website building, and on this basis, puts forward some solutions to the development and application of comprehensive subject website in senior high school. This website brings forward a systematic designing idea, overall structure and functions. And the system is based on a campus network hardware platform, combing WEB technique and software engineering idea with a thorough analysis on system demands. The archetype system adopted in the website is set up by means of three-tier system and module design applications. The website functional modules are classified into knowledge base module, question module, interaction module, learning module, online teaching module, and examination module. This article compares the techniques of developing subject resource websites and goes deeper into the study and exploration on corresponding techniques, and finally designs the website and achieves database with the help of Windows SharePoint Services and SQL Server 2000 sp3, ASP technology and Access 2000, developed by the Software Corporation. Users can get not only access to online interactive discussion, but learn and share the materials as well. This website probes into online teaching and learning of comprehensive subject in the case of network. In this process, the website is closely related to online classroom and emphasizes the collecting, changing and applying of learning resources. Therefore, it is of great value and has an outstanding creative characteristicsOn the whole, this article puts forward the design idea and scheme of the development and application of comprehensive subject website in senior high school. It explores the main techniques which are developed by Windows SharePoint Services, SQL Server 2000, SP3 and ASP, solutions and the process. More significantly, it satisfies the current application needs and points to further research efforts.
