A Research On Checking System Of News

Reporting news objectively has always been the ideal of thepress media and the journalists. For various reasons, however, thisideal is not easy to achieve in practice. Inaccurate, untrue reportsare heard and seen at times in daily news reporting. This goesagainst the essence of journalism—news objectivity and damagespublic credit of media. In such a situation, we have to ask whatkind of ethics and routine standards should we journalists observein practice to ensure the accuracy and truth of reports and whatkind of mechanism should we set up to achieve news objectivity?This article analyzes some successful and aborted cases in thisfield. And then proposes three methods of investigation andverification concerning the accuracy of news: self-check on thepart of the media, checking the source of the news, listeners andreaders pointing out the mistakes in the news. The method ofinvestigating and verifying the truth of the news includes twoaspects: the reliability of the source of the news and the reliabilityof this kind of information obtained concerning the source. Atthe same time, in view of the present situation of the media'sself-examination and correction in our country, the author points out that the media itself should establish news-check mechanismand carry out correction system and further specify the operationprocedure. These make sure that the journalists are in constantpursuit of the immortal God—news objectivity.
