With the importance of network optimization being showed out increasingly, its technical has beening improved and developed continually. The aim of building a multi-media mobile communication network which is fast, of big capacity and high quality, and global, made the network optimization and management a hot research.WCDMA utilizes Wideband Code Division Multiple Access, and it's a self-jam system which brings the problems of near-far problem and pilot channel pollution. So optimization is necessary the aim of which is to improve the system performance step by step and infinitely approach the groove state of the network. So we can meet the needs of sustaining changes and developing service requirements and provide the best service quality. This article first brings forward the system of WCDMA, introducing the system structure of WCDMA, the main technic, especially the handover control and the power control. WCDMA has the ability of soft handover, which assures the talk incessant. The third chapter describes some parameter adjusting of UMTS optimization, including the flows of cell selection and re-selection of HCS and non-HCS, and also the randomly access. These processes involves many wireless parameters. Setting these parameters appropriately is the key of improving the rate of putting through and covering. The setting of neighbor cell lists is also important, as it affects the handover successful or not.In conclusion, network optimization starts from service and network requirements, using kinds of optimization tools, analysing all sorts of problems, and adjusting related engineering and system parameters to solve the problems. It can improve the performances indicators of both network and service, and provide the users a nice-qualitied and effective WCDMA network to satisfy the users' quality requirements furthest.
