The hardware platform based on dual-processor of MPC8540 and DSP is researched and developed for requirement of airborne displaying system. As functions and features of displaying in 3D graphic will be used in future, the platform takes full advantage of features of the network communications of the MPC8540 processor and digital processing on DSP in high-speed. The design of MPC8540 system hardware platform is discussed in this thesisArchitecture design of the platform is done considering the features of MPC8540. Power supply module, Clock module, SDRAM module and FLASH module are four basic parts of system around MPC8540. Power supply module consists of three power buses, and clock module is to ensure a uniform system clock of the whole system so that DSP will meet with MPC8540 clock synchronization. DDR SDRAM module is designed to use DDR Controller to manage SDRAM,and FLASH module is mainly concentrated on configuring related registers.The design of communication interfaces between MPC8540 and DSP,MPC8540 and FPGA are discussed in detail. MPC8540 communicates with DSP through HPI provided by DSP,and they exchange data through a 16-bit data bus. MPC8540 guarantees the normal data exchange between MPC8540 and FPGA by controlling timing.
