With the development of airborne avionics, airborne displaying system is playing an important role. It offers the pilot with integrated information in the manner of graphs and images, helping the pilot to master all-side situation in the air rapidly. The design of DSP component is discussed in the thesis for an MPC8540 and DSP dual-kernel hardware platform, which is used to display 3D graphs in avionics system. Graphic algorithms are executing on the DSP as a graphic accelerating device.DSP related devices in the hardware architecture is very important, including DSP and MPC8540 part as well as DSP peripheral equipment. The design of connection between TMS320C6713 DSP and MPC8540 is the key part: the two processors connect to each other through a 16bit width parallel Host Port Interface (HPI) provided by DSP. Host processor may directly access memory space on DSP and functions as a master to the interface. The process is controlled by the HPIC,HPID,HPIA registers. Furthermore, DSP connects synchronous DRAM and asynchronous FLASH via External Memory Interface (EMIF) according to the definition of the pins. The parameters of the whole memory space are configured by serious of control registers in EMIF.To optimize Kalman filters on the DSP, the matrix multiplication in the C code segment is rewritten with liner assembly and the internal cycle is spreaded. The structure of code is simplified to make software pipeline completely used, and the performance of the arithmetic is improved.
