With the increasing development of embedded system technology, at present many universities have already offered different embedded system related courses, and make corresponding experimental teaching contents and methods. But ARM 11 family of processors has become mainstream processors due to the rapid development of ARM family of processors; many experimental developing platforms based on ARM7 family of processors or ARM9 family of processors are still used in the experiment teaching and research. Although there have been many types of embedded development platforms, they are not for embedded system of. experimental design, this development platforms mainly provide some suitable software development of function module. At universities, students using an embedded experimental development platform do embedded experiments not only about the embedded software, but also the embedded hardware.This paper has designed and implemented an embedded experimental development platform hardware based on ARM11. According to the field of application and the user of the platform, this paper has analyzed the functional requirements, then formulated the design plan of this platform hardware and adopted the hierarchical modularity design patterns of "core board+ expand board". Basic hardware experiment, embedded software experiment and embedded operating system experiment can be completed at this embedded experimental development platform.On the basis of the principle of hierarchical modules, we have designed the core board and the expansion board. The core board mainly realizes the minimum hardware system. After having taken an overall consideration of the CPU capability, interface and cost factors, we choose the Samsung Company's S3C6410 processor as the platform's core processor. Expanded board mainly performs several functions of the platform and integrates different hardware modules, such as power supply module. LCD touch-screen module, GPS navigation module, etc. Based on software and hardware synergy mode function, we have tested the system hardware circuit; In the light of hardware resources, we have transplanted the BootLoader. Linux core and root file system. Besides, we also have developed hardware driver and principal applications.Finally, we have finished the hardware electrical property test and function test on the embedded experiment development platform hardware. The experimental results have proved subject works satisfy design assignment and objective.
