Research Of Network Management Model Based On Active Network Technology

With the development of network, internet on people's lives is becomingincreasingly important. And users' demand.on network changes persistently. Morekinds of information transmitted and higher quality of services(Qos) provided aregreatly required. Computer Network System paralysis may seriously affect people'sdaily lives, especially the financial, telecommunications, transportation andcommercial areas, even a few minutes of system failure may have caused hugeeconomic losses. Therefore, the safeguard of computer's operation is an importantwork, and network management emerged.SNMP is a network management standard widely used now,it is easy to achieve.It has been supported by many users. However, such a network management model isbased on client/server technology centralized management structure, hasn't appliedto the gradually expanding network. It exposed the communications bottleneck thatbandwidth wastage, a lack of timeliness and motivation of such shortcomings.Therefore, the.network management architecture that we need to build must overcomethe above drawbacks to meet the needs of development of network technology andscale.The appearance of the Active Network provides a good opportunity to solve theproblems that exist in traditional network. Active Network as a new intermediatenodes programmable network architecture, provides a good test and deploymentsupport for new network protocol and services, and also provide a new way tonetwork management, service quality control, reliable multicast.Therefore, the network management applied with Active Network technologycan solve many of the shortcomings of traditional network management, such as theLack of expandability, Low efficiency, poor utilization of resources and so on. Theintroduction of Active Network technology in the network management is a kind oftry for intelligent and standardization of network management.This dissertation covers the key technology of Active Network and its applicationin network management. The paper's main content and author's studies are following.(1) Study and Research SummaryBased on reading and study mass of inside and outside correlative papers, thepaper analyzed the SNMP network management framework model, summed up thecore ideas and operational functions, analyzed its Polling mechanism throwing a caseand concluded the limitations of this management. Meanwhile, it studied thecharacters and mechanism of Active Network, detailed discussed the concept andfeatures. On the basis it explored the application needs of network management whichbe applied with Active Network technology.(2) Put forward a new network management based on Active NetworkA highly efficient management platform should be distributed and programmable. This dissertation has researched how active network technology can be used to realizeefficient distributed network management. In this paper, a new network managementmodel is put forward based on the active network technology. And through thecharacteristics of Active Node and Active Packets, a hierarchical networkmanagement model has been designed which can effective and flexible managenetwork.(3) Design the structure of the Active Management Workstations, Active Node,Active Packets, and Put two kind of plan for the initiative of traditional nodes.Because of the gradually increasing of network, it is unrealistic to change everynode directly to the Active Node, so the management model we provided should carryout effective management to both traditional nodes and Active Nodes, By addingactive management agent or linking active platform, we completes the initiative oftraditional nodes.(4) Making a qualitative and quantitative analysis for the traditional networkmanagement model and the Active Network management model, proved that drewActive Network technology to the network management is an effective networkmanagement.The hierarchical network management model base on Active Network wedesigned makes up for the shortcomings of traditional network management to someextent, and has some significance for the design and development of networkmanagement in the future.
