Research About Active Packet Based On Active IP Option

As the networking technology develops, Internet has more and more taken an important role in people's study and life, and become an important part of global economy. As Internet users explode heavily, different requirements about quality and quantity of network service appear. Although computer technology, communication technology and all kinds of new software technology give a strong support for network, but until now it is still a problem that the development of network keep slow, and the new technologies haven't been used to its full range. To settle the problem, DARPA bring forth the concept of active network in 1994. They think that active network is a possible way for Internet problem, and it is the direction future network developsActive network bring a new way to settle the problems lie in traditional network. Active network break the pattern of store and forward in traditional network, embed the source code in itself, enable computing ability in it. Because this kind of computing can base on user or application, so customization service is possible in it. But it's impossible for us to build up a new active network as big as Internet. My paper is telling you how to transmit active packet including code on Internet today, and make it arrive active node, then be recognized and run.The most important part in active network is the active packet and active node. I focus on active packet in active network, study the original IP protocol, provide a kind of active node architecture based on IP option and active node software architecture based on this kind of node. I select a special field of IP protocol itself: option field, give it a special value. Because of the value, any active node can identify whether the packet bring data and code or not. To picture the structure accurately, I use RSL. RAISE is a series of tools and convert technology on this kind of specification language and form a very rigorous approach. I improve some part of the original IP software, so I can get an new IP software that can dealing with active packet, the software can filtering the active data packet, so program code embedded in active packet can be run on active node.
