Pulse compression (PC) radar has been widely used in practice because of its far radarrange and good range resolution. The rapid development of circuit technology has provideddigital radar signal processing the essential support. The research of high-speed and real-timepulse compression system has been more and more important. Most of the digital real-time pulse compression system researched were developed onmulti-processor, they have complex structure.their common disadvantage is their large sizeand awful extension.they can't satisfy the demand of radar's miniaturization. This dissertationmainly completed the research of a real time digital PC system with miniaturization andexcellent extension attribute. The article first introduce principle of matched filtering and pulse compressing theory ofLFM.The transform of LFM signal magnititude after pulse compression is studied.Subsequently, the hardware design is introduced. After explainning method of IC selectingand key circuit designing,a scheme is presented. In the scheme, one FPGA acted as thecontroling uint of the system and the FPGA is also used to store data. The system iscomplished on a PCB with length of 155mm and width of 99mm,which realized the purposeof miniaturization. The last part of the article introduce design of the system's software.Data isconvered to float-point format so that the compution has high precision.System's work-flow isexplained and key approach is introduced in detail. The real-time and extending property of thesystem is analyzed particularly. The debugging and tesing result is given at last. The system is simple in structure, small in size, reliable in performance and can be easilyhandled. It has successfully applied to a radar and made a good performance during thepractice.
