In recent years,the cases of data warehouse system construction are more and more in the domestic large and medium-sized enterprises. In addition, with the further opening of market and growing of competition in the business, the demand of analysis on business-to-market, monitoring and evaluation on operational status are increasing. There will be more enterprises to build data warehouse system. How to build data warehouse systems to meet enterprise's requirement of flexible and various statistic and analysis is an important issue of data warehouse construction.This thesis gives a method of establishing a telecom industry data warehouse system through a data warehouse system-building process in telecom industry, with reference to the characteristics of telecom industry.The thesis analyses the content of primary aspects and relative methods in detail, focusing on requirements analysis, general design and detailed design in process of building data warehouse, taking the theme "Customers to use products" as an example. Combining with the practical process of the data warehouse system,this thesis introduces the application of the relative techniques of the data warehouse system in carrying out some issues. 1) In the stage of the analysis to the client demands, the system can exactly and efficiently recognize the key business dimensions and the levels, data and the level's relations of the business dimensions by applying the information packets method. 2) The system adopts the Dimensional Modeling technology to implement the establishment of the star-styled models, and it can also use the method of deposing the dimension forms to confirm the stability of the system on the premise of meeting the demand of the analysis, aiming at the situations like frequent changes of clients and production, and the big dimensions with the high quantities of dimensions. 3) In the design of the system data modeling layer, to meet the various requirements of analysis granularities and the date of the system functions, and distribute the modeling layer reasonably, according to the different kinds to analysis requirements, operation-styled data layers, detailed data layers and data warehouse layers are built, and reasonable distribution of the data in the data warehouse are implemented, so the analysis of the applications and the demand of the functions are ensured. Moreover, the thesis has also done a further research on the OLAP technology of the data warehouse comparing it with several OLAP models, and based on the characteristics of the telecom industry, it adopts the MOLAP method in the system operation. Through the application of technology above, quality of projects has been improved, and the construction period has been shortened. Especially,the application of the design of the system model layers organically combine the data with different granularities, and provide flexible data view. At the same time, the functions of the system have also been greatly raised.The thesis results to a practical method of building a data warehouse system, which provides a basis for the further application based on the data warehouse system (such as the applying of the data excavation and data market, etc.). And this thesis can also be used as a reference for the construction of the data warehouse of other industries.
