With the development of database technology and the expanding of database scale, people hope to refine the useful information from existing data to serve for decision; therefore, decision support system emerges as the time require. There have been growing interests in the techniques of data warehouse, On-line Analytical Processing and data mining since they support the Decision Support System.OLAP as the most important front-end data display technology of data warehouse, playing a special role when it takes part in user interaction. Therefore it is an important element in data warehouse architecture. OLAP organize data as multidimensional forms to meet the analysis needs of all angles and levels for users.This paper introduces the background and significance of the issues, and then compared the difference and relation of data warehouse, OLAP, data mining. We analyses the lack of C/S structure and the advantage of B/S structure. By researching the knowledge about relation OLAP and multi-dimensional OLAP, we choose relation OLAP as a basis for system development. Then establish multi-dimensional snowflakes data model according to the requirement analysis, and take a choice of Web-based B/S structure.Based on the drilling data warehouse, this paper designs and implements OLAP system focus on the chosen theme, it enables output the result in the forms of multidimensional data tables to users. With metadata, users can achieve different analytical results by rolling up, rolling down and rotating data table. And discusses about the visualization of results, and completes graphical display by using ActiveX technology.
