According to analyzing a large number of fact data, OLAP (Online Analytical Processing) provides powful fuctions about statistically analyzing and querying for the decision-makers, consequently it gives powful support for establishing the enterprise's decision policy .But present OLAP lacks enough efficiency when handles rapid change of unexpected data requirement .Physical integrating is a complex and time consuming process and need multidimensional dataset to be rebuilt.Aiming at the particular practical purpose, on the base of absorbing existing research achievements, the author puts forward an X-MDDM (XML based multidimensional data model). By introducing XML, the model describes multidimensional structure and multidensional dataset. The model also adopts XQuery to implement the OLAP's operaiotns of querying and analyzing on documents. The author puts forward an method for changing dimensional structure on the base of it, and it can changes the dimensional structure dynamically, get the correct results rapidlly ,without rebuilding the multidimensional dataset. On the base of X-MDDM, the author designs system architecture of OLAP, discusses in depth the core of the architecture which is OLAP application server, gives the particular work flow and application methord. The main function of the system is to implement the idea of the model.Research in the thesis has deepened the methodology about the OLAP's multi- dimensional data model and system architecture, which takes great theoretic and realistic significance in promoting the extensive application of data warehouse and OLAP.
