| The Workflow Management Corporation (WfMC) defined Workflow as "the automation of abusiness process, in whole or part, during which documents, information, or tasks are passedfrom one participant to another for action, according to a set of procedural rules." Workflowmanagement systems have been used in collaborative environments for a number of years toorganize project execution and sequence tasks and assignments.On account of global competition, the efficiency of business processes has to be improved,resulting in a reduction of process requirements in terms of time and cost. This businessobjective leads to approaches as lean management and business process reengineering andoptimization. In order to fulfil these objectives, workflow management approaches often areintroduced in the enterprise.Here our main goals are: 1. to implement a temporal workflow management in a claim handlingsystem with the customers' complaint being fed back through web. 2. to take the advantage ofWorkflow Management System to help the head of a department of Maroua-University conceiveand realize an automated and coordinated time tables of teachers as well as allocate varioussubjects to lecturers taking into consideration the prior proposal of the lecturers.In this thesis, a classification of workflow systems is made then after we underline theadvantages and disadvantages of Relational Database Management Systems in a collaborativeenvironment.There after, we are going to define the various type of course scheduling problems thatMaroua-University is having before implementing the workflow and finally we shall implement aworkflow management system for Maroua-University to automate and coordinate the timetables of teachers as well as the subjects' allocation to various teachers.While in the second part, we will make a short introduction to claim handling system then weshall clarify the proposed solution.Our research thesis will be ended by the Chapter 4 which is presenting the conclusions wereached and also introducing the future work to be done.
