Mobile communication has already experienced big transformation from the analog communications to the digital communication since 1980s it is large-scale invested in commercial. Along with the mobile communication rapid development, the traditional 2nd Generation communication system has not been able to meet people's request gradually because of the primary services of the voice and the low-speed data, but the emerging data and the multimedia service, such as Email, video transmission, document downloading and so on, will become the indispensable service composition in the mobile communication. At present, the 3G system had been invested in the oversea countries and Hong Kong commercially, the domestic 3G fourth stage test already finished. It's estimated that the 3G license will be provided in our country in 2007. Therefore, each large mobile communication operator is positively deploying the third generation mobile communication system for the arrival of the 3G time.The mainstream 3G standards have three kinds of service systems, namely cdma2000, WCDMA and TD-SCDMA. Among these,cdma2000 proposed by America is compatible for narrow band CDMA network of nowadays; WCDMA proposed by Europe is designed for realizing compatibility with the GSM network and smoothly transiting from GSM to the 3G system WCDMA; While TD-SCDMA is proposed by our country, and has the independent intellectual property rights, thus it is been paid more attention by the government. With the research and development of the third generation mobile communication, the 3G frequency band of china has been decided, the TD-SCDMA system, which is the first global communication system standard in China, has become a focus of attention even more. As the issue of the Third Generation Mobile communication license is drawing near, the discussion of network planning of 3G has topped the agenda of all major telecom runners of the country. The key and difficulty of radio communication regulations lie in RAN (Radio Access Network). The multiple access technique adopted in 3G, which is completely different from that of 2G makes the network planning of its RAN quite different from 2G.Based on TD-SCDMA wireless network construction project, the study deeply investigates the development, architecture, principles and practical applications of wireless network planning of TD-SCDMA system. Considering the practical conditions of TD-SCDMA system experiment network to be constructed by Baoding,it designs and realizes a TD-SCDMA network planning software, and analyzes the result of the computer emulation, based on the the geographical features of Baoding.Study in the TD-SCDMA system is a complex task and involves widespread domain. This thesis first gives a general description of Third-generation mobile communication system, introducing the developing history and technical characteristics of TD-SCDMA, and especially it is mainly devoted to introducing the core technology of TD-SCDMA, such as the special frame structure, smart antenna technology , baton handover and so on, thus it explains the background of the study. Chapter 2 of the thesis gives a detailed description of the network planning of TD-SCDMA and draws a conclusion. It first shows the general flow of the radio network planning of TD-SCDMA, and then gives a detailed analysis over the scale estimate of the key link of the flow--Capacity and Coverage. It analyzes over the affect of the self-interference of the TD-SCDMA system on capacity and coverage and emulates the uplink and downlink coverage in different rate by Matlab.Chapter 4 explains TD-SCDMA's organized network scheme in typical environment and independent or mixed organized network scheme. Chapter 5 designs and realizes TD-SCDMA network planning software, and gives the result of computer emulation, based on the TD-SCDMA network design of Baoding. This thesis can serve as a guide for the 3G construction work, which will soon be carried out.
