The Design Of Directory Service In R-Net Monitoring System (RNMS)

Grid computing is a new mode against complex scientific computing, which is developing rapidly with Internet technology. Grid integrates the whole network to be a virtual super computer. It realizes the completely share of computing resource, storage resource, information resource, knowledge resource and expert resource.In order to implement high usability, robustness and high performance of Gird, it is essential to monitor Grid properly and effectively. Directory service system is responsible for organizing and managing static data, as well as real-time and dynamic information produced by the monitoring process. In addition, grid monitoring system provides a unified and consistent view of static and dynamic information of grid resources for grid users.This thesis discusses the design and implementation of a directory service in grid monitoring system. Firstly it introduces the concept, significance and requirement of grid monitoring system, elicites the content and goal of the research. Then this thesis compares several directory service systems, analyzes their protocols in grid environment. From those systems and protocols, design demands and functions can be achieved. After that, this thesis describes a directory service system in a GMA-based monitoring system. It accomplishes the design and implementation of global/local architecture of distributed directory service, data model, data structure, query process, information storage format, transmission format and transmission protocols.
