At first, this thesis analyzed the present situation and the trend of e-Lcarning primary technology, pointed out that, with the flourish of development, e-Learning technology requires that some restrictions should be cast off, such as scale, capability of distributed computing, resource sharing and capability of storing and scheduling, etc. As a new technology, grid computing is on growing, and having been extensive concerned by the academic field and industrial field. Combining together with the e-Learning technology, we set up the platform named as e-Learning Grid, which is a new search direction and will bring the new opportunity for the development of e-Learning.Based on Open Grid Service Architecture (OGSA), we set up a general architecture of e-Learning Grid. In this architecture, services are the core of this architecture. This architecture includes three parts, which are grid learning objects, general grid services and learning management system. After this, we describe the three parts of this architecture in detail. In practice, setting up the e-Learning Grid system has some problems that must be resolved. Grid is a heterogeneous and distributed system whether in logical and physical, so, how should we store and manage the learning resources that having stored in the grid, and how should we share and schedule these resources become the primary problem that we have to resolve. In the Globus, Metacomputing Directory Service (MDS) is based on Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP). By using LDAP, MDS provides a uniform interface for searching, registering, querying, modifying...
