The Virtual Instruments (VI) technology sufficiently adopts the great power in image and data processing of computer, supplying data analysis and display. It possesses powerful function, high precision, nice real-time quality and well interface. The Application of VI to test could exert the ability of computer and create more powerful instruments. This paper aimed at the design of PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) signal source based on VI, which can control IPM( Intelligent Power Modulation) and the test system of IPM, in order to find out a so feasible test method that the companies producing IPM can efficiently use it. Bring on some Chinese companies can make IPM themselves.The main work and contributions of dissertation are summarized as follows:To begin with, we summarized the development of power electronic devices and frequency conversion technology, and deeply researched device characteristics and control theory of IPM.Then we expounded PWM technology in many ways. PWM is the research hotspot on frequency conversion technology, which is effective in harmonic suppressing and has apparent advantages in frequency, efficiency and so on. Thus it improves the performance and reliability of inverse circuit greatly. SPWM(Sinusoidal PWM) modulation is particularly researched next.Furthermore, we mainly researched the signal generator which can generate SPWM signal to control IPM and be based on average-symmetry- sampling algorithm and VI environment. This signal has three phases and six chances which can be used to control IPM. The frequency range of this signal is from 100Hz to 10KHz.Last but not least, we systemically studied the character of IPM, and what condition is the character of IPM can be correctly measured. Primarily introduced the test system of IPM that based on data acquisition card ,which can measure the parameter of IPM through analogy the data acquired by data acquisition card.
