Vibration test, signal acquisition and the analysis for the signal are all importantparts of modern mechanical engineering and other industry field. But the various needsof instruments and the complexity of their operation make a huge requirement of bothman power and material resource in testing work.With the fast development of computer and internet technique, virtualinstruments are showing their great potential in testing field. And there is a tendency ofintroducing VI into vibration test and analysis. It’s an advantage that users cancustomize the instruments they want and can easily build or change an instrument’sfunction and property. There can be a testing system for vibration with brief structure,full function, short development cycle and convenient maintenance when using VItechnique.This paper designs a testing and analyzing system for vibration based on thehardware of PC and using LabVIEW which is a production of NI (National InstrumentsCorporation, USA) for software development, along with some necessary sensor,signal conditioner and a self-made data acquisition card. LabVIEW is an applicationusing graphic language for programming. The modules based on LabVIEW is lowcosting, less needed on other device and can give a full accomplishment of signalacquisition, processing and analysis.With the technical resource at hand, this month paper make out the main structureof the designed system, using the development of test measurement and VI both in andoutside China as reference. The main part of this paper gives the way to design bothhardware and software of the system. The core of the hardware is a data acquisition cardwhich is controlled by a MCU. Data transformation between the card and PC iscompleted by USB. Modularized design is used in software formation and the analyzingpart of system is build up with individual modules. Users can control the system by thevirtual panel, and the system will do operation like signal acquiring, data analyzingand result displaying etc. The functions of software mainly has signal preprocessing,Time Domain, Frequency Domain and Time-Frequency Domain.The system designed in this paper has main functions of vibration analysis, it’seasy for use and of good expansibility. It has high cost performance that it is suitable foruse in teaching, research and other engineering applications.
