Flexibility has already been an admitted software attribute and become the focal point that both the software engineer and the user commonly pay attention to. In order to adapt the changing requirements at run time without interrupting the software system, some software provide flexible or intelligent software interface, users can do some operations through the interface and this can make software do some functional or behavioral flexible changes. This dissertation makes some exploration from the basic software measurement theory, with the base of software functional flexiblility, building a quantitative metric model of software functional flexibility based on flexible point on user interface, and built a series of measurement metrics with flexible point, gives out the corresponding quantitative measurements.Firstly, the basic software measurement theories and technologies are illustrated, the method for building a measurement model and the evaluate rules are summrised; To solve the quantitative calculation question for flexible distance, the paper introduces the function point analysis technology, the model, measurement process and GUI-objected rules of function point analysis are described on detail.Secondly, based on the summarization of the former flexibility study, this paper puts forward a new definition on software functional flexibility and the concept of flexible point. Thus makes a further research on the features such as changing with requirements, evolving on line, inner-native and presentative, and makes a classification of software functional flexibility from the view of operators, the implemention and the represent forms, then summries the factors influnced the implemention and represention of functional flexibility, and builds a quantative measurement model based on flexible point.Thirdly, to solve the core element such as flexible point, flexible force and flexible distance, the paper summrises the flexible point type, puts forward the method to identify and make sure the flexible points on user interface, defines the flexible force values based on the levels of flexible points, and presents the method and steps to calculate flexible distance based on function point analysis.Finally, a simple case study is carried out to illustrate the concretely analysis and measurement process, the flexible force, flexible distance, flexible degree, flexible capacity and the use rate of flexible point are calculated respectively, and analysises the measurement result about flexible capacity and the use rate of flexible point, the usefulness of the model is illuminated.
