Water loss and soil erosion, soil desertification and water abused in the agriculture and forestry made water resources so lack in China, and one of the way to solve this problem is developing the researches of water and soil conservation and rain water use, and also utilizing water properly and effectively. In the experimental researches on rain water, it's very difficult to get the results of natural rainfall, but the artificial rainfall can gain information data about water and soil in short term, so most researches home and abroad are about soil and water conservation by artificial rainfall nowadays.At first, the structure and principle of a type of artificial rainfall slotted device were introduced in this thesis. Artificial rainfall simulator were tested at trial and researched about its characteristics according to the requirement of practical application. We designed water supply system, added computer supervisory system and display units. The driving motor, the electromagnetic clutch, the diving pump, the manual controller, the sensors, DAQ card and IPC are included in hardware of artificial rainfall device. Forcecontrol 5.0 and MATLAB are included in software. Based on the PC-DAQ hardware platform and above software in this thesis, the data collection, display, saving and analysis processing were realized, and PWM signal by computer I/O port sending controlled the swinging frequency of the sprayer.The artificial rainfall simulator was tested based on computer SCADA platform that we have designed, including the pressure of pipeline, the temperature rise and force of the electromagnet. A series of detailed tests and researches on rainfall characteristics had been operated, including rainfall intensity, rainfall distribution uniformity, raindrop diameter and terminal velocity. Different rainfall characteristics were got by changing the rainfall height, the pressure of pipeline and the swinging frequency of the sprayer after some trials. At present, artificial rainfall simulator in this thesis was put on trial indoor.
