As WCDMA network is rapidly developing worldwide, together with the successful progress of WCDMA trial network organized by MII of China, WCDMA network deployment is considerably pushed in China. WCDMA network is sensitive to load and interference, and WCDMA applications are multiple, which makes WCDMA network planning technique more complicated. Taking market, investment, coverage, capacity and infrastructure scale into consideration, this article focuses on how to meet the demand of WCDMA operation, which is of high risk and full of intense competition, by realizing"cost-effective and prompt infrastructure deployment and effective coverage".This article integrates whole-network coordination and special studying, and uses data and theoretical analysis to prove. The special studying comes to qualitative conclusion and puts forward proposals for network construction, based on quantitative analysis using experience data, on-site reconnaissance and theoretical calculation.When making analysis, this article emphasizes the following principles and adopts the following relevant methods to ensure that the studying abides by scientific method and makes some theoretical and practical achievements:Following the rules set by China Netcom, based on current business model and voice-volume model of Tianjin, considering possible changes after deploying WCDMA, this article chooses the business model and voice-volume model after comprehensive calculation.The choice of Base Station is based on on-site reconnaissance, using GPS orientator, digital camera and other necessary appliance to collect and register data of every reference site.Aircom emulation software is adopted in the wireless network planning. Using Monte-carlo emulation method, static emulation is applied in the chosen sites. Through several customer access and interference calculation, analysis is made of network performance after stable operation.The cost231-data transmission mode is revised by using CW test transceiver and truck-carrier test method.This article emphasizes PHS interference in WCDMA and brings forward strategies of balanced development of PHS and WCDMA for Tianjin Netcom.This thesis is divided into 5 chapters. Chapter 1 makes an introduction of the adopted methods and WCDMA development trend home and abroad, and sets the preconditions for the WCDMA planning. Chapter 2 makes special studying on choice of core network version, covering area, transmission model, link budget, capacity planning, interference analysis, and site setting principle etc. Chapter 3 confirms WCDMA market positioning, market and network development strategy for Tianjin Netcom, based on competition environment of WCDMA development and SWOT analysis. Chapter 4 completes the WCDMA network planning for Tianjin Netcom, based on business forecast and business model. Chapter 5 illustrates the effect of Tianjin Netcom WCDMA network planning in the four aspects-coverage, capacity, quality and cost.
