The purpose of this dissertation is directed to video monitor of the removed laboratory. Based on PCI bus, a high-speed image collecting and processing system which utilizes digital signal processor TMS320C6211 is presented in this dissertation. A thorough study of the hardware designs of an image process system which using DSP as the main processor and the theories as well as realization of image process algorithm have been introduced. This system can flexibly acquire the video image and shoot the condition of laboratory accurately as well as quickly. The image processing can be achieved latter.In this dissertation, hardware and software are discussed in detail respectively. The hardware can collect the video image signal and realize the algorithm by DSP processing, then transfer the compressed data to host through PCI local bus. The main function of software is to make it possible for the image to collect, compress and transmit data. In addition, the principal and execution of DCT algorithm has been discussed.The system is charactered in three aspects. The first is real time. The second is higher integration, lower power dissipation using DSP chips. The third is that the hardware platform is a general one for image processing, which can finish various image processing functions according to the choices of different software.
