Abstract/Summary:
The work of this thesis is to form a basic environmental monitoring system using embedded platform of software and hardware. The system can ascertain many targets such as position, temperature, humidity and etc where the environment is in any circumstance. This paper emphasizes on analyzing the structure of ARM embedded system. At the same time, the features of embedded operation systems such as Vxworks, Windows CE are studied and several operation systems in common use are compared. The focus is on embedded Linux operation system which is applied in this subject. In addition, the structure of Intel PXA 255 evaluation board is analyzed.The embedded system programming in this paper is based mainly on the application of GPS and ADC modules. GPS module consists of RS232 serial port of PXA255 developing board and GPS. The position information is displayed on the liquid crystal screen to achieve the positioning function in the system's environment through the designing, programming and debugging of the embedded Linux application programs. The work of ADC module is to convert the output of temperature and humidity sensors to data we need. Then a basic system of environmental monitoring is made up.At last, the course that the embedded application programs are transplanted is introduced, including exploitation environments'founding, cross-compile and transplant of kernel and application. This paper also introduces GTK programming in use of embedded graphic interface.
